Morpheus8, manufactured by INMODE, is a device that combines micro-needling with fractional radiofrequency. Like laser and LED treatments, radiofrequency uses energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production, but the heat energy is electrical rather than light-based. The fractional radiofrequency can be delivered in different power and depths of the skin and dermis (up to of 4mm and deeper than any other device on the market). This stimulates collagen production and induces skin rejuvenation without damaging the top layer.
Morpheus8 is also the first and only full-body subdermal adipose remodelling device (SARD). Despite being applied externally, it offers the deepest fractional technology, allowing me to target deep layers of a patient’s skin and remodel collagen.
Morpheus8 treats fine, moderate and deeper wrinkles, improves the skin tone and texture and reduces scars, including acne scarring. It can also help to reduce active acne.
Due to the adjustable energy and depth of the needles, the device can be used everywhere on the face, neck, décolleté and other parts of the body.
For the face Morpheus8 can improve eyebags and upper eyelid laxity, reduce smile lines (nasolabial folds) and marionette lines, and improve the facial contour by tightening and recontouring the chin, jawline and neck to reduce jowls and submental fat or double chins.
The treatment takes 30-60 minutes depending on the area being treated. Topical anaesthetic will be placed on the face for at least 30 minutes before the treatment. The treatment itself is pain-free.
After treatment, there is local skin redness (erythema), swelling (oedema), and the sensation of heat that can last anywhere from 1-7 days. It is normal to have tiny pinpoint scabs appear that can be masked 24 hours after treatment with make-up. Visible results can be achieved 4-14 days post-treatment.
It is also safe on dark skin tones with little risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) which is common with other resurfacing methods.
For the full effect, I recommend at least 2 treatments 4-6 weeks apart.
It is also possible to combine the Morpheus8 treatment with Platelet-rich plasma (PRP). PRP has gained popularity in facial plastic surgery because of its role in wound healing. PRP releases growth factors and biologically active proteins, which in turn activates the wound-healing cascade stimulating neoangiogenesis and collagen production. One of the most popular uses for PRP is for facial skin rejuvenation in the form of dermal injections and topical application during microneedling.
